Ian first developed an interest in screenprinting whilst working for a firm of architects in India who produced prints of their buildings using traditional techniques, such as the flattening-out of perspective and the application of deep, pungent colours.

In this spirit, his most recent images are vivid, hand-printed screenprints of Pembrokeshire’s coastline, in marked contrast to his earlier series of black-and-white prints of ‘architectural’ views of the County’s towns and villages. Their design and vibrant colours reflect the influence both of the traditional painted miniatures of India and of its contemporary silkscreen prints.
