Ian trained as an architect, and has practised for the past 25 years in the UK, Germany and India. Since the turn of the millennium, he has been based in the UK Southwest – first in Bristol and, since 2004, in the Pembrokeshire harbour village of Solva. He and his partner, Maria, currently run a boutique B&B there: Art and Accommodation at Haroldston House, where he is resident artist.

From this vantage point, Ian has been able to document the buildings and landscapes of the western British Isles in his black & white pen-and-ink drawings, colour screenprints and pencil line sketches.

Ian has exhibited throughout the region – including the joint exhibitions '3 Solva Artists' at St Davids' Oriel y Parc landscape gallery, and ‘Photo-Grafik’ at the Refectory Gallery, St David’s Cathedral; and in Christmas exhibitions at Bristol's Strawberry Gallery, the Polka Dot Gallery in Exeter and Tenby Museum & Art Gallery.

His prints have also been shown at Pendle Arts Centre in his native Lancashire; in London, where they formed part of the group show ‘One More than Five’ at Lauderdale House, Highgate in May 2004; and, most recently, a series of Irish subjects at galleries in Counties Waterford and Tipperary in the Republic.

Ian also works as a copyeditor for international publishers - more details can be found on the EDIT pages.
